Support

There are many ways to show your support, from volunteering to donating to sharing resources to becoming an invested member of the Friends and Descendants of Johnson’s Island.

Volunteer

FDJI is an all-volunteer run organization, and we need volunteers for our various events and programs throughout the year as well as some special projects. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities.

We also participate in the American Battlefield Trust’s Park Day every April and need dozens of volunteers to make this clean-up event successful. Please see our Facebook or newsletter communications for more information on how to sign up.

Object & Document Donations

FDJI maintains an archive of guard and prisoner-created primary documents (diaries, autograph books, letters, envelopes, maps, drawings, etc.) and a historic object collection (photographs and objects made or owned by prisoners) in addition to its vast archaeological collection.

We are actively collecting and many of our historic objects are used in exhibitions around the country, so if you would like to learn more about donating an object to our collection or allowing our organization to have a copy of a document to share with the public, we encourage you to contact us.
